December quarter 2023 activities report December quarter 2023 activities report

On January 30, we announced our December quarter FY24 results to the market.

Highlights included strong operating cash flow at both Peak and Dargues that is funding our growth, the continuation of an operational turnaround at Peak, exploration programs that delivered exciting results, and several milestones at Federation to ensure first stope ore is on track for Q1 FY25.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Quinn spoke about our quarter performance.

“It is pleasing to see continued strong development performance at Peak and Federation, and the production performance at Dargues, which will support our ability to deliver our FY24 targets and growth agenda. This quarter, our operations again funded all the development capital for Federation and our exploration programs.

“We remain focused upon implementing the actions required to make a step change in performance at Peak and prepare for higher utilisation of our processing infrastructure as Federation is brought into production.

“Our progress this quarter was in line with our key strategies to fill our mills and improve our value to shareholders. Improving our safety performance remains a key priority across the Company, which is fundamental to our success,” Bryan said.

Nymagee exploration update Nymagee exploration update

On 22 February, we shared the results of our recent successful, four-hole exploration program at the Nymagee Deposit in the Cobar Region.

Reaffirming the significant prospectivity of the Cobar Region, the program included the highest zinc assays recorded at Nymagee (37.9% Zn) and some of the highest copper (13.4% Cu) and silver (254g/t Ag) assay results since drilling started in the area in 1905.

Our Chief Development and Technical Officer, Andrew Graham noted the results also highlight why we are back drilling at Nymagee.

“The grade in the lead-zinc zone was exceptional but it’s the multiple lenses of thick, high-grade copper that’s the real standout of this program.

“I want to take this time to thank our entire Nymagee Exploration Team for their work to complete this program,” Andrew said.

Further drilling at Nymagee will be scheduled in FY25 as we aim to grow our mineral inventory to support future mining studies.

The full results of the program are available in the ASX Announcement:

Update on Federation Project activities Update on Federation Project activities

On 4 March, we announced two significant milestones towards the development of our Federation Project.

Reaming of the second shaft to surface which will be used as a fresh air rise (FAR) – with a diameter of 4.5 metres – was completed the day of the announcement. The FAR will now be lined with shotcrete as necessary over the coming month to provide ground support. The completed FAR will provide the primary source of fresh air required to support future full-scale mining operations at Federation.

The raisebore rig will now commence the third and final shaft to surface, which will be used as a return air rise (RAR), over the coming months.

Secondly, sealing of the Burthong Road between Hera and Federation finished. The road will support the transport of ore mined from Federation to our Peak and Hera processing plants, and also benefits the local road users in our community.

Our Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Quinn said both are significant milestones and a credit to the entire Federation Project Team and our contracting partners.

“Completing the reaming of the second FAR raisebore safely is a fantastic outcome and marks another significant step toward derisking our pathway towards first stope ore in Q1 FY25.

“The delivery of the road sealing works with minimal disruption is particularly satisfying given recent rain events experienced in the region during January and February. The upgrade of intersections, including the light vehicle turnoff into the Federation site will be completed prior to ore haulage commencing,” Bryan said.

Aurelia welcomes visitors Aurelia welcomes visitors to see operations in the Cobar Basin

On Tuesday 5 March, we were delighted to welcome guests to visit our operations in the Cobar Basin.

The guests included analysts, investors and media representatives who joined a charter flight in Sydney to Cobar with our Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Quinn, Chief Financial Officer, Martin Cummings and Chief Development and Technical Officer, Andrew Graham.

The first stop was our Federation Project, where guests were provided with personal protective equipment and completed a safety induction before going underground to inspect the decline development face and the underground diamond drill, followed by a tour of the surface infrastructure. An overview of exploration and mine geology activities in the Federation/Hera/Nymagee region concluded the visit at Federation.

Next stop was Peak for a management presentation covering our Cobar regional operations and growth opportunities from the site leadership team.

The underground tour of Peak included the mobile maintenance workshop and the high-grade Chronos Deposit to see a production drill and tele-remote loader in action. The day concluded with a tour of Peak’s polymetallic process plant.

Bryan Quinn noted the day was integral in helping to demonstrate our future growth plans and opportunities on our path to becoming a developer and operator of choice for critical base metals to power a low carbon future and deliver superior shareholder value.

“The future is bright at Aurelia, and visits like these give us an opportunity to demonstrate our focus on continuing to optimise our costs and strengthen our position in the highly prospective Cobar Region.

“I want to thank everyone who joined on the day for their time and engaged enthusiasm. It was our pleasure to show our guests the incredible work being undertaken by our highly capable and galvanized site teams.

“I’d like to lastly thank the entire Aurelia team and our contract partners involved in making the tour the success it was,” Bryan said.

Aurelia Metals presents Aurelia Metals presents at the 2024 OrOn 25 March, Aurelia presented at the 2024 Ord Minnett Small and Mid-Cap Mining Conference in Sydney.

Our Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Quinn said “the hybrid conference was a great opportunity to engage fund managers, retail advisers and high net wealth investors and outline the vision for our future growth plans.”

The key messages of the presentation highlighted our significant Mineral Resources in the Cobar Basin, established processing infrastructure, and targeted programs to lift volumes, lower costs and improve value.

Our balance sheet is in great shape and able to fund our growth, with Federation fast approaching first stope ore in Q1 FY25, and Great Cobar to follow which will cement the Peak mine as a copper dominant ore producer in the medium term. And our exploration programs continue to highlight the prospectivity of the region.

Federation exploration update Federation exploration update

On 5 March, we were excited to share significant results from exploration programs at our Federation deposit.

In the north offset (Federation West), technical concept drilling to assess orebody offset potential due to strike discontinuity intersected significant massive sulphide mineralisation approximately 140 metres north of the strike of the main deposit.

Technical concept drilling below the main thrust in Federation East also intersected thick intervals of high-grade mineralisation. The drilling demonstrates the potential for mineralised depth extensions of the high-grade eastern lens below the Main Thrust.

Our Chief Development and Technical Officer, Andrew Graham noted the discoveries have further substantiated Aurelia’s belief in the significant lateral and depth growth potential at the Federation deposit as we approach first stope ore in Q1 FY25.

“The massive sulphides seen in the North Offset drilling are exciting and suggest that further lenses remain undiscovered at Federation. The drill results from below the Main Thrust point to depth continuity below this structure and provide significant targets for future extension,” Andrew said.

“What is most exciting however, is that our deeply experienced Exploration Team are continuing to employ a leading edge science-based approach to discovery with great success,” Andrew concluded.

March quarter activities report
March quarter activities report

On 23 April 2024, we announced our March quarter FY24 results to the market.

Highlights included a strong balance sheet to progress growth, continuing improvements in our operating performance, ensuring Federation remains on track for first stope ore in Q1 FY25, and exciting results from our exportation programs.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Quinn spoke about our quarter performance.

“The March quarter continued our goal of sustainably increasing our productivity as we focus on filling our mills in the future,” Bryan said.

“At Peak, ore tonnes mined were 10% higher and ore tonnes processed 13% higher. At Dargues, ore tonnes mined were also 2% higher and ore tonnes processed were on target.

“The Federation Project team continued to focus on decline development and infill drilling. These activities are the highest priority and are critical path items for first stope ore in Q1 FY25, and to enable the ramp-up in production thereafter.

“It is a significant milestone for the Project to have reamed two of the three shafts incident free, completed the Burthong road construction and sealing, and commenced many other non-critical path projects on site.

“And finally, our exploration programs produced exciting drilling results during the quarter. The results at Nymagee and Federation further demonstrate the prospectivity of our Cobar Basin exploration tenure. These results, along with additional results at Chesney and Perseverance Deeps, continue to support our vision to be a developer and operator of choice in critical base metals,” Bryan concluded.
