AT&T and Rakuten Symphony
Originally announced in February 2022, the extended agreement aims to replace legacy systems and software with the implementation of Rakuten Symphony’s automated platform. This tool enhances productivity for AT&T employees and contractors managing cell site builds, offering real-time data visibility to lay the foundation for future AI-led operations, the Japanese company said.

AT&T plans for 70% of its wireless traffic to run over open and interoperable platforms by late 2026. To achieve this, the operator needed to consolidate fragmented legacy tools supporting site design and construction. With Rakuten Symphony site management platform, AT&T has transitioned to an end-to-end integrated solution — a move completed in just 18 months from pilot to full deployment, with no service disruptions.

Now used by more than 10,000 registered users across AT&T and its contractor network, Rakuten Symphony’s platform also supports AT&T’s massive fiber expansion initiative.

Rakuten Symphony site management platform provides lifecycle management of telecom sites, from planning to deployment. It uses artificial intelligence (AI) and digital workflows to streamline network builds and maximize efficiency.

Rakuten Symphony achieved profitability
Rakuten Symphony achieved profitability at the non-GAAP operating income level for fiscal year 2025. In RAN, we have steadily shifted our revenue structure from delivery of low-margin hardware to a major customer to high-margin software and its customization and maintenance. In the Cloud segment, we are expanding our sales channels through Google Cloud Marketplace and we'll continue to expand our revenue base for various services.

Cross-business collaboration in Fintech February 25, 2026 at 07:40

Rakuten Group and Rakuten Bank have officially agreed to resume discussions regarding the reorganization of the group's fintech business. The plan aims to integrate Rakuten Bank, Rakuten Card, and Rakuten Securities Holdings into a single group to enable more agile decision-making and deeper cross-business collaboration. While a previous attempt at this reorganization was discontinued in September 2024, the companies cited a rapidly changing environment—including rising interest rates and intensified competition from major banking groups—as the primary driver for the January 2026 proposal to restart the process.

To ensure fairness, Rakuten Bank has established an independent special committee to oversee the transaction, as Rakuten Group currently holds a 49.26% stake. The reorganization is currently expected to take effect in October 2026, though specific participation from partners like Mizuho remains undecided. Rakuten Bank anticipates maintaining its listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market throughout the process.
