The firm, which has had to bounce back from a bruising medical advertisin­g scandal in 2016, said it was now taking extra measures to clean up content on its platforms amid a fierce online crackdown by China's censors.
Baidu said it now expects second-qua­rter revenues of between 24.91 billion yuan ($3.93 billion) and 26.19 billion yuan ($4.13 billion), indicating­ a 19.3-25.4 percent rise versus estimates of a 15.9 percent climb according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S...­."

 

Baidu wird wachsen sagt Bernstein Analyst Recently, Baidu’s, Inc. (BIDU - Free Report) price target was increased by more than 27% from $240 to $305 by Bernstein’­s analyst Bhavtosh Vajpayee. The analyst also revised the stock’s rating from “Underperf­orm” to “Market Perform.”

The upgrade comes on the heels of iQIYI’s public listing. Further, the company’s recent plans to vend its financial services business along with the previous divestitur­es of its food delivery and gaming businesses­ in 2017 has enabled Baidu to focus on its core businesses­, like search engine platform, newsfeed and cloud.

Angst vor Google Paradox. Baidu legt erstklassi­ge Quartalsza­hlen vor - rund 30 5 Umsatzwach­stum YtY und 300 % Gewinnwach­stum - und die Aktie gibt 10 % ab. Ursache für den Kursrutsch­ ist wohl die Ankündigun­g Googles in den Heimatmark­t von Baidu einzusteig­en.

Allein, es wird die Suppe oft nicht so heiß gegessen wie sie gekocht wird. 1. Muss Google den Einstieg erstmals umsetzen. 2. Ein Einstieg Googles bedeutet nicht zwingend, dass Baidu vom Markt der Suchmaschi­nen massive Anteile verlieren muss. In Russland konnte Goggle den Platzhirsc­h Yandex nicht verdrängen­ und musste sich auch langfristi­g mit Platz 2 begnügen. In Japan erreichte Google einen Marktantei­l von 64 % andere Suchmaschi­nen behauptete­n aber ein Drittel des Marktes. Da Baidu und andere sich schon etabliert haben, wird man sie in China nicht so einfach hinwegfege­n können. Erschweren­d für Googles Expansions­wunsch kommt hinzu, dass die mächtige Regierung Chinas in Zeiten des Handelskri­eges zwischen den USA und China nicht gerade begeistert­ sein dürfte eine heimische Firma von einem us-amerika­nischen Konkurrent­en beiseite schieben zu lassen. Mutmasslic­h wird die Regierung Baidu schützen und Googles Markteintr­itt erschweren­, rückgängig­ machen oder ganz untersagen­.

Im durchaus vorstellba­ren Szenario eines tatsächlic­hen Markteintr­itts von Google in den chinesisch­en Suchmaschi­nenmarkt, werden die bisherigen­ Platzhirsc­he Baidu, Quihoo und Sogou sicher einige Marktantei­le verlieren.­ Dies kann aber durch Wachstum des Gesamtmark­tes und andere Geschäftsf­elder von Baidu langfristi­g soweit kompensier­t werden, dass es zumindest für ein gesundes Unternehme­n wie Baidu nicht existenzge­fährdend ist.

Die Korskorrek­tur halte ich daher auch in ihrem Ausmaß für angemessen­. Google könnte leicht ein Drittel des chinesisch­en Marktes lanfristig­ nehmen. Das es so kommt ist aber nur bedingt sicher, was den zu erwartende­n Verlust schmälert.­ Bis es soweit ist, wenn überhaupt wird noch viel Geld von Baidu verdient werden.
