A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. to Attend the Solar Power International Conference in Anaheim, California on October 27th-29th, 2009          SHENYANG, China, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (Nasdaq: APWR) ("A-Power" or "the Company"), a leading provider of distributed power generation systems in China and a fast-growing manufacturer of wind turbines, today announced that it will attend the Solar Power International Conference (SPI), which will take place on October 27-29, 2009, at the convention center in Anaheim, California.    Mr. Jinxiang Lu, A-Power's Chairman and CEO, Mr. John Lin, its COO and director, and Mr. Eiji Ino, President of the Japanese thin-film photovoltaic cell maker EVATECH Co., Ltd. ("EVATECH") will attend the SPI and also hold one-on-one investor meetings at the conference.   "A-Power is looking forward to meeting prospective customers and investors at the SPI, the largest solar conference and expo in the United States," said Mr. Lu. "Every year this well-known conference attracts attendees from all segments of the solar value chain, and we will be very proud to be part of this important solar industry event."   According to the SPI Website (http://www.solarpowerinternational.com/), approximately 750 companies and organizations, as well as more than 20,000 people, will exhibit at the SPI 2009.    In September of this year, A-Power signed an agreement to acquire 100% of EVATECH. The closing of the acquisition, expected to occur later this year, is subject to EVATECH's rehabilitation process in the courts of Japan related to the EVATECH's corporate and debt restructuring.

Over the past two years, the China Wind Power has become the most important event in China. As the follow up event to Windpower Shanghai 2007 and Global WindPower 2008, China Wind Power is the only conference and exhibition that attracts the wind industry’s global leaders because it is the only event supported by the industry associations.

Based on the success of last year’s event, China Wind Power is sure to be the most important event in China in 2009.

In 2008, over 12,000 professional visitors toured the only exhibition in China where all of the world’s leading turbine manufacturers displayed their technology. Other exhibitors included over 200 component suppliers covering the whole supply chain; from turbines, blades, bearings, gearboxes, hubs, towers, to yawing system, controlling systems, transmission systems and monitoring systems. Such a meeting place for the entire industry in China is important so that technology can be shared and sales can be made.

China-US Wind Farm JV Plan Calls for 240 Units of 2.5MW Turbines to be
                         Purchased from A-Power

SHENYANG, China, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. ("A-Power" or the "Company"), a leading provider of distributed power generation ("DG") systems in China and a fast-growing manufacturer of wind turbines, announced today that the Company has been designated to supply wind turbines to a China-U.S. joint venture project ("JV Project") to develop a 600MW wind farm in West Texas.

At a joint press conference held today at 12 p.m. EDT, at the National Press Club of Washington, D.C., it was announced that Shenyang Power Group ("SPG"), the U.S. Renewable Energy Group ("US-REG") and Cielo Wind Power LP ("Cielo Wind"), signed a joint venture framework agreement ("JV Agreement") setting forth plans for developing the 600MW wind farm. The terms of the JV Agreement include the JV Project's plans to sign a definitive purchase agreement with A-Power related to the purchase of up to 240 units of 2.5MW wind turbines. The JV Agreement includes a delivery schedule starting in March 2010, subject to SPG securing third-party financing, among other conditions. A-Power currently has an annual production capacity for 1.1GW of wind turbines at its 320,000-square-foot facilities in Shenyang. A-Power is a shareholder of SPG.

The JV Project, which when established will be 49% owned by SPG, with the rest of the equity ownership held by US-REG and Cielo Wind jointly, is expected to be one of the largest wind farms in the United States. Upon completion, it is anticipated to generate enough electricity for 180,000 homes in America. The JV Project is expected to cost in total approximately $1.5 billion, a portion of which is designated for wind turbine purchases, and its establishment is subject to, among other things, further due diligence by the parties, the securing of financing from commercial banks in China, and other project development conditions.

"A-Power welcomes the opportunity of participating in this high-profile wind power project in the United States," said Mr. Jinxiang Lu, Chairman and CEO of A-Power and CEO of SPG. "As both a supplier to the JV Project and an equity-owner of SPG, A-Power will be able to export its wind turbines for the first time and reduce its exposure to the intrinsic risks associated with such a large-scale project. We like the tremendous opportunities in the United States, which is the world's largest wind power country. We are cognizant of the recent policy push by the Obama Administration in the renewable energy sector, and a stabilizing financing environment for renewable energy projects. And we are attracted to the track record of Cielo Wind, the largest privately held wind power project development company in the Southwest United States, with a 16% market share for wind power installation in Texas. In this JV Project, and the sales we expect to make to the joint venture, all of A-Power's previous investments -- in production scale, in foreign technology licenses, and in alliance with other power plant service companies -- are expected to come to fruition, and we look forward to entering into a sales agreement with the JV Project and moving ahead with the production schedule as set forth in today's JV Agreement."

U.S. Wind Farm A Chinese wind-turbine company, with financing help from Beijing, has struck a deal to be the exclusive supplier to one of the largest wind-farm developments in the U.S., a sign of how Chinese firms are aggressively capitalizing on America's clean-energy push.

The 36,000-acre development in West Texas would receive $1.5 billion in financing through Export-Import Bank of China. Shenyang Power Group, a five-month-old alliance, would supply the project with 240 of its 2.5-megawatt wind turbines, among the biggest made in the world.

A-Power hat Auftrag in USA It is a sad day for the U.S. renewable energy business. A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. (APWR), a Chinese producer of wind power turbines, has won the contract to provide turbines for one of the largest wind farms in America. The project, located in West Texas, will cost $1.5 billion, part of which will almost certainly be put up by Chinese banks. The company said that "Upon completion, it is anticipated to generate enough electricity for 180,000 homes in America."

.. wen die Kursbewegung wundert :

Thursday, a report said Democrat Senator Schumer called to restrict the stimulus funds to be used in the 600MW wind farm joint venture in Texas, which is made up of A-Power Energy Generation (APWR), U.S. Renewable Energy Group and Cielo. A-Power owns 49% of the JV. The project is expected to get funding from the Commercial Bank of China (around $1.05B) and $450M from the US stimulus package. So Sen Schumer is supporting President Obama's policy to develop renewable energy, but assails the $450M being taken from stimulus. His reason is simple: the $450M will be used to create jobs in China, not in the US. Well, it looks that way, however, he ignores that $1.05B will be from China. China is financing the major part of the project! Let me list a few facts that prove Sen Schumer is not seeing the full picture here.

1. A-Power formed a joint venture with General Electric (GE) to develop wind turbines earlier this year. According to the announcement, GE owns a majority stake in the business that will serve as GE Drivetrain Technologies' Southeast Asia manufacturing center starting in mid-2010. Now it is clear that turbine shipped from A-Power is at least 50% owned by GE. In other words, China's $1.05B investment in the 600MW project is going to create jobs associated with GE.

2. Open your eyes wider Mr. Schumer and you'll see an even bigger picture as China recently granted First Solar (FSLR) a 2GW solar farm project when Chairman Wu Bangguo of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China visited the company. The four-phase 2GW solar power plant will receive total RMB$10B(~US$1.6B) from China's commercial bank according to a report. So again China is financing the project, and it's benefiting First Solar (creating jobs in the US).

3. It's all about free trade. If you restrict $450M to the wind farm project in Texas, why would China give this 2GW project to First Solar? China has better solar PV technology than the US. Companies such as Suntech (STP), Solarfun (SOLF), Trina Solar (TSL), JA Solar (JASO) and Yingli Green (YGE) all are capable of doing as good a job as FSLR. I do praise China for 9taking the first step to cooperate on renewable energy between the two nations. There is no reason the US should say no to A-Power's wind farm, especially when President Obama has been diligently promoting a renewable energy policy since he took office.
